No decision on chaplain badge: Payne

Defence Minister Marise Payne says there's been no decision made to change the badges worn by army chaplains.

Media reports have suggested the motto "In this sign conquer" is to be removed from the Maltese cross badge worn by army chaplains representing the Christian churches for fear of offending Muslims.

But Senator Payne told a coalition partyroom meeting in Canberra on Tuesday - in response to a question from an MP - that there had been no decision to change the badge, which has been worn since 1913.
