Nine guns stolen from Darwin home

A 28-year-old man has been charged after nine guns were stolen from a house in Darwin's northern suburbs on Wednesday.

Two people were captured on the home's CCTV loading the weapons into an allegedly stolen silver Audi.

A few hours later, police tracked the car down at a property on Secret Road in Berrimah and arrested three people.

Yesterday, metal detectors were used to search the property for signs of the gun cache, but investigators are yet to locate the weapons.

The man has been charged with a number of offences and will appear in court today.

Police believe the stolen Audi was involved in several business break ins at Tipperary Waters earlier this week, while it's alleged the Millner home was robbed sometime between 6.20am and 10.30am on Wednesday.

"Police received a call, in relation to a suspicious vehicle at an address in Milner, and when we responded to that we discovered that a house had been unlawfully entered," Detective Senior Sergeant Robert Jordan told 9NEWS.

Det. Snr Sgt Jordan said the guns had been stored correctly by the owner and that there was no evidence they were stolen to be used against anybody else.
