Applications open for the Jacoby-Walkley Scholarship

Nine and The Walkley Foundation have opened entries for the Jacoby-Walkley Scholarship, which is available to applicants aged 32 or under.

The 14-week paid work placement is open to young storytellers with a passion for broadcast journalism and dreams of carving out a career in the competitive television industry.

Established in 2013, the scholarship provides the opportunity to work alongside top journalists, with the successful applicant spending time at 9News, 60 Minutes, A Current Affair, Today Show and 9news.com.au.

The successful applicant will receive a stipend for the duration of the scholarship, during which time they will undertake a 10-week placement with Nine in Sydney and a four-week placement at the Walkley Foundation in the lead up to and including the annual Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism.

The applicant will also receive a $1000 gift voucher to use towards a short course at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).

The scholarship was originally set up with support from media executive and award-winning TV producer Anita Jacoby to recognise the legacy of her father Phillip Jacoby – a pioneer in the Australian electronics and broadcast industry.
