Emmy Awards: Colbert pokes fun at Nicole Kidman and Big Little Lies co-stars
One of Emmy Awards host Stephen Colbert's first jokes of the night was directed at Nicole Kidman and her Big Little Lies stars.
After Kidman stunned in a scarlet frock on the red carpet, Colbert highlighted her close relationship with her co-stars, including Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern.
"Wasn't it great to see the cast of Big Little Lies a while ago?" he asked the star-studded audience.
"They're good people. And they're actually friends, and you could tell because they didn't try to push each other down the stairs."
Kidman is a hot favourite at the 69th annual awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
She wore a Calvin Klein dress and was accompanied by her husband Keith Urban.
Styled by Julia von Boehm, Kidman sported pink satin sandals with crystal straps, as well as the silk gazar pleated bodice by Raf Simons.

She is nominated for best actress in a limited series TV movie for her role as Celeste, the abused wife and mother of Perry, played by Alexander Skarsgaard.
Big Little Lies is the work of Australian author Liane Moriarty, who wrote about the suburban lives of a group of Australian mothers on Sydney's northern beaches.

Kidman is the favourite to win the award but has some stiff competition including her co-star Reese Witherspoon.
Also in the frame are Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange, for Feud, the story of the rivalry between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis.
Geoffrey Rush, Judy Davis and Ben Mendolsohn could also land awards.
Although Nicole has a string of awards behind her name, including an Oscar, this would be her first Emmy.
