WA Police seize drugs, cash and weapons in major Rebels bikies raids
Western Australian police seized multiple kilograms of illicit drugs, hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and dozens of firearms in major raids spanning 200km of the state’s coastline.
State gang crime authorities targeted members of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang today in a series of operations focusing on key individuals in locations between Scarborough and Bunbury.
WA assistant commissioner Alan Morton told media the raids come in reaction to the high level of crime linked to outlaw motorcycle gang.

“They don’t care for the harm they cause the community – they’re motivated purely by power and greed,” he said.
“They are behind a lot of the misery that’s been peddled into our community via drugs.”
In total, authorities seized a kilogram of cocaine, $500,000 in cash, 24 illegal weapons and more than four kilograms of methamphetamine – believed to be capable of producing 42,000 hits to drug users.

The raids form part of an ongoing operation against motorcycle gang members that was launched in November last year. Police have since claimed the move has dealt major damage to Rebels ranks around the country.
More than 400 criminal charges have so far been laid against 78 Rebels members and their associates for crimes ranging from assault to extortion and threats to kill.
“Outlaw motorcycle gangs recruit aggressively with the promise of a glamorous lifestyle, when in fact nothing could be further from the truth,” assistant commissioner Morton said.

“Those people who choose to associate with them can expect to draw the attention of the WA Police Force.”
9News understands another reason behind the raids is due to an overwhelming number of recent complaints made by members of the public against Rebels members.
“Other motorcycle gangs are on notice that the same is most likely happening to them right now,” assistant commissioner Morton said.
