Crime scene established after intense fire tears through Logan home

A home in Logan has been destroyed by a suspicious fire overnight.

Fire crews were called to the two-storey home on Hakari Street in Crestmead at 12.25am, with the property already fully engulfed in flames.

There were initial fears two people may have been inside the home at the time but the occupants were found safe and well.

Fire crews managed to stop the blaze spreading to nearby homes but the home has been gutted.

"The building has completely collapsed, we're still damping down hotspots," firefighter Ross Bobbermien told Today.

Investigators believe the fire may have been deliberately lit, with the homeowner telling police he had received threats in recent weeks.

A crime scene has been established, with police and fire crews to conduct a joint forensic investigation.
