Massive snake found coiled around bush in suburban yard

A massive carpet python has been found loitering around a front-yard bush in a Queensland suburb.

Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers posted a video of the big reptile on Facebook, saying it had been caught at a home in Twin Waters.

"It's not very often we catch a python this big in Twin Waters," catcher Stu said.

"That is thicker than my arm."

The catcher hooks the snake out of the bush and holds it up, showing the animal's eye-catching length.

"That's about eight kilos of snake there, I reckon," Stu said.

He said while it wasn't the longest python he'd ever caught, it would probably be the biggest.

At one point, he holds a hand close to the body, showing the snake is about four or five fingers wide.

The snake catchers later released the reptile back into the bush.
