Passenger in critical condition after drag crash in Melbourne

A passenger in a ute believed to be street racing in Melbourne’s south-east has been seriously injured.

Police believe a ute was travelling along Queens Way when the driver lost control and crashed into a railing near Punt Road just after 7pm.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from Altona, was arrested at the scene and returned a positive drug test.

The ute is believed to have lost control and careered into the centre divider. 9news

The passenger was taken to hospital in a serious condition.  9news

His 41-year-old passenger from Keysborough was taken to hospital in a serious condition with a spokesperson from the Alfred Hospital updating his condition to critical but stable this evening.

Police are still on the lookout for the second vehicle involved, believed to be a white sedan, that failed to stop after the ute crashed.
