Man in critical condition after house fire in Glenroy

A man has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition following a house fire north of Melbourne.

Emergency crews believe the blaze in Glenroy started in a house at the rear of Widford Street about 10pm.

A man who resided at the address alerted emergency services, with a second resident rushed to the Alfred Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the blaze but are treating it us suspicious.  9news

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established, however it is being treated as suspicious.

A crime scene guard will remain overnight with an arson chemist expected to examine the scene in the morning to determine how the fire was started.
