Three people stabbed in house party home invasion

A house party has descended into violence after an armed intruder stormed a home in Melbourne's east.

A group of friends were confronted by a knife-wielding man inside a unit on Peter Street in Doncaster East just after midnight.

A 21-year-old man was stabbed along with his 30-year-old friend, with one of the victims rushing next door to raise the alarm and seek refuge inside a doctor's home.

“His hand was cut … blood drops (were) slipping everywhere,” the doctor told 9News.

Another 30-year-old man was also injured during the scuffle.

Detective Senior Constable Brendan Keane said the "behaviour is quite concerning”.

“Obviously with the injuries received in their scuffle it could have gone any which way and turned out more serious,” he said.

Detectives believe the attacker, who fled the scene, knew his victims.  

The injured men are recovering at Box Hill Hospital in a stable condition.

Police have described the offender as Caucasian in appearance.
