Cyclist threatened with secateurs in North Melbourne road rage clash

A cyclist has been threatened with a knife and secateurs during a confronting road rage event in North Melbourne.

Police today revealed details of yesterday afternoon's attack, which started with a verbal altercation between a 33-year-old man on a bike and two men in a car while both parties were stopped at a set of lights.

The cyclist subsequently took a photo of the silver Holden Commodore after its occupants threw an object at him.

The car stopped and a struggle began, with the cyclist kicked in the leg and forced to let go of his bike.

"The alleged offenders then threatened the victim with a knife and secateurs before throwing the bike to the ground and stomping on it a number of times," police said.

Investigators are looking for the car, with registration 1GW 8YD, and its occupants who are described as Caucasian and aged in their late 20s.

One man has a solid build, brown hair, brown goatee and a tattoo on his upper right arm.

The other is small, with brown hair tied back and a distinctive skin condition on his nose.
