Man drives stolen front-end loader into hotel

A man has driven a stolen front-end loader into the front of the Valley Inn Hotel in Hope Valley in Adelaide's north this morning.

The driver ploughed into a brick wall and then through a fence, before dumping the truck and fleeing the scene, just after five AM.

Staff member Anishma Nepal, had just started work when she heard the crash.

"I heard a loud noise outside, when I came and saw from that door there was a big truck smashed in the wall," Ms Nepal said.

"I was so scared and I called my manager."

As the driver left Grand Junction Road hotel he knocked down a nearby fence.

He then dumped the front-end loader at Leeds Avenue at Hope Valley before fleeing on foot.

Adam Hill, who also works at the hotel, says the damage is very substantial.

"I'm in shock, I don't know if I'm going to be able to trade. I don't know," Mr Hill said.

The driver abandoned the front-end loader and fled. 9News

The offender remains on the run.
