Woman trapped after car crash

A woman was left trapped in her car after another driver lost control on a NSW road trying to beat a red light.

The woman was waiting patiently at an intersection in Mayfield, Newcastle when the P-plate driver of an SUV slid out of control and slammed into the side of her car.

The P-plater drove off but damage to the woman’s car door meant she was unable to open it and was trapped inside in the middle of the intersection, the woman’s partner David wrote in post on Dash Cam Owners Australia's Facebook page.

As the traffic lights turned green witnesses did nothing to help and instead began abusing her for not moving her car.

"I know people might be in a hurry but spare a thought for someone who may be a little traumatised," the post read.

Newcastle police are investigating the incident.
