New Queensland 'world-first' technology allows precise tracking of whales
A Queensland University has developed what is being touted as a "world-first" technology allowing for easier and precise tracking of whales.
The Griffith University developed device uses the same GPS technology typically used in cars and cargo ships.
Deployment of the tracker is said to be even easier on the animal as well, with four suction cups being used to maintain its position.

The new technology allows scientists to track the sea giants in real-time from a normal smart phone.
The hardware is also half the price of existing trackers.
"It gives us a very high accuracy of location; within 20-30 metres of accuracy is what we normally get," Dr Olaf Meynecke from Griffith University told 9News.
