'Narcissistic' Victorian attention seeker Nelly Yoa jailed

Serial attention seeker Nelly Yoa's "complete fabrication" of tales has landed him behind bars for five months.

The 30-year-old has an 18-month community corrections order waiting for him when he's released from prison, as part of a sentence imposed in Melbourne Magistrates Court.

Yoa pleaded guilty to five offences including perjury and making false reports to police.

"It was a complete fabrication, a tissue of lies," Deputy Chief Magistrate Felicity Broughton said of the perjury charges.

"Your preoccupation with your reputation and public image are a confabulation of a narcissistic individual ... aimed at protecting any constructed public image."

She acknowledged there were "some delusional, grandiose concerns", as noted in a psychological report.

Yoa was taken into custody at the end of the sentence.

He lied to police that a woman threatened him with a knife at his Dandenong home in June 2016.

He also lied to to them in May last year, when he reported a woman threatened him with a handgun.

Last week, Yoa made a presidential-style arrival at court, complete with running "security" guards beside a Rolls Royce.

But the Ballarat-based man presented a more conservative look on Thursday, walking into court dressed in black, flanked by his solicitor Chris McLennan.

Yoa has appealed the sentence.
