Negative gearing curb could hit Canberra

Former ACT chief minister Katy Gallagher has conceded Canberra could be affected by Labor's proposed curb on tax breaks for property investors.

Senator Gallagher said it was no secret that Canberra was a city with high levels of negative gearing.

But she told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday that good policy in the national interest could not be determined by "sub-populations".
