Nauru rejects Greens senator's visa bid

The Nauru government has suggested it denied a visa to Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young out of fear she would incite violence or hatred.

Senator Hanson-Young was notified last week that the Nauru government had rejected her bid to return to the Pacific island nation, following her infamous visit in 2013 in which Wilson Security spied on her and gave her the nickname Raven.

"Gov(ernment) won't comment on individual visa applications but like Aust reserves right to disallow entry to those who incite violence or hatred in or against Nauru or otherwise considered unwelcome &/or deemed contrary to the national interest," the Nauru government tweeted.
