Nats deputy expects Nazis expelled quickly

Nationals deputy leader Bridget McKenzie is confident the NSW division of her party will move quickly to purge members with "appalling" links to neo-Nazism.

She's the latest senior member to condemn extremism within the Nationals after people tied to white supremacist groups were found to have joined the party's youth wing.

"To see that these people have chosen to join the party I think is appalling. I know the New South Wales division is acting swiftly to root them out," Senator McKenzie told ABC radio on Tuesday.

But in almost three decades as a Nationals member, the Victorian senator says she's never seen extremism infiltrate the party.

"Our nation fought against Hitler, fought against fascism - men died for that," Senator McKenzie said.

The NSW Nationals could expel up to 20 members over links to the alt-right movement after an internal investigation sparked by an ABC report earlier in the month.

Senator McKenzie joins federal leader Michael McCormack and veteran NSW senator John Williams in speaking out against the extremist infiltration.

The executive of the NSW Nationals will discuss the scandal at a meeting in Sydney on Friday.
