Nationals expect Truss retire decision

Nationals leader and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss could announce his retirement as early as Thursday.

Mr Truss, who won't vacate his Queensland seat of Wide Bay until the election due around September, is expected to be replaced in the top job by his deputy Barnaby Joyce.

Nationals sources say a partyroom meeting was being pencilled in for Thursday in Canberra.
