Nabil Maghnie says he 'didn't even know Mitat was dead' after being released without charge

A Melbourne underworld figure who was arrested by police this morning has been released without charge as detectives continue to investigate a spate of shootings across the city.

Nabil Maghnie was picked up by Taskforce Sector detectives this morning following the arrest of a Comanchero bikie yesterday who was charged with the murder of Dandenong man Mitat Rasimi.

Talking to 9News outside police headquarters in Melbourne after being released Mr Maghnie, said he didn't have "a f------ clue" what happened to Mitat Rasimi.

Rasimi, a 51-year-old convicted criminal with known underworld connections, was found dead in his car with gunshot wounds after crashing into a pole at Dandenong on March 3.

Taskforce Sector is investigating the March killing of Mitat Rasimi and other fatal shootings including the double homicide at Prahan's Love Machine nightclub.

When asked if he knew why Mitat Rasimi had been killed, he responded "no not at all. I didn't even know he was dead."

A police spokeswoman confirmed this morning that officers conducted a warrant at a property in Bundoora in Melbourne's east.

"A 43-year-old Bundoora man was taken into custody at the address and is currently assisting police with enquiries," the spokeswoman said.

Maghnie was taken to police headquarters for questioning and has since been released without charge.
