Mystery surrounds death of Gold Coast man found bashed to death on back porch
The family of a Gold Coast man found beaten to death in the backyard of his home are on their way to the scene from northern NSW, determined to help police search for their son’s killer.
Mystery surrounds the death of father-of-two Mark Spencer, whose housemate found him with significant head injuries on the back porch of his Coomera property this morning.
Police believe the 37-year-old was beaten to death.
“We believe some sort of an instrument was used to inflict the injures,” Detective Superintendent David Hutchinson from Queensland Police said.
Spencer’s housemate and a friend were ushered away by detectives, still in shock as they try to come to terms with his death.
Detectives believe he was the intended target.
“Every indication is that this was not a random event, it was a targeted situation,” Supt Hutchinson said.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
