Victorian man Scott Cameron has been handed a jail sentence of 29 years for stabbing mother of two Dannyll Goodsell 55 times, before concealing her body underneath her bed and attempting to set her Ballarat home alight.
The Supreme Court of Victoria heard that in the hours leading up to her death, Ms Goodsell sent a text message to a friend telling them she was scared of her partner of three months, before he murdered her on October 5, 2018.
The court also heard Ms Goodsell told several friends Cameron put his hands to her throat the week before her death and that she was "scared to leave".

In his sentencing remarks, Justice Andrew Tinney rejected Cameron's claims that he "lashed out" after Ms Goodsell attacked him with a hatchet.
He said it was implausible to think Ms Goodsell would have attacked her partner when she was so afraid of him.
"I am satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that your account of being attacked by Ms Goodsell was completely fabricated. The allegations are hollow, cowardly, and completely false," he said.
"There is no explanation at all for your shocking crime."
Justice Tinney said he was particularly moved by several victim impact statements read out in court including one from Ms Goodsell's daughter who was just 13 when her mother was murdered.

Reading out a poem she read: "The day that man stole my mum is the day I stopped living life".
"I now have to walk this planet alone, knowing I won't see her again."
Cameron was handed a head sentence of 29 years with a non-parole period of 23 years.
Justice Tinney rejected that Cameron showed any remorse for his actions.
"You must be punished in a way that reflects the shocking aspects of your crime," he said.
"Her life was precious you took it away for no reason."
