Friends of Queensland murder victim 'received emails from him' after his death

Friends and family of a Sunshine Coast murder victim received emails they believed were from him for up to 10 months after his headless torso was discovered by the side of a road.

The messages were sent from the email account of property agent George Gerbic, 66, and gave the impression that he was alive and well, News Corp reports.

No one reported him missing for months reportedly because they were not concerned for his safety.

Mr Gerbic's remains were discovered in bushland on the Sunshine Coast last September after being dumped and set on fire by the side of a semi-rural road in Gympie.

Police then door-knocked hundreds of homes of patients across southeast Queensland on the same hypertension medication found in the torso.

They made a breakthrough in identifying the remains only a couple of weeks ago after visiting Mr Gerbic's property at Tanawha in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

His 56-year-old partner, Lindy Yvonne Williams, stands accused of his murder and dismemberment and is awaiting her next court date.
