Murder accused faces child porn charges

A man accused of stabbing Sydney businessman Morgan Huxley to death on the lower north shore has been charged with possessing child abuse material.

Daniel Jack Kelsall was arrested on October 8 and charged with murdering Mr Huxley, who was found with multiple stab wounds at his Neutral Bay apartment in September.

The 31-year-old died from his injuries at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Kelsall is also charged with stealing money from Mr Huxley about the same time as the alleged stabbing.

The murder and larceny case was mentioned briefly at Sydney's Central Local Court on Tuesday, where lawyers said additional charges had been laid against Kelsall.

Court documents allege that police discovered child abuse material on his personal computer and a hard disk storage device at his Neutral Bay home on October 8.

He was charged with two counts of possession of child abuse material.

All the matters against Kelsall were adjourned until May 15 at Central Local Court, where details of Kelsall's committal hearing are expected to be discussed.

Prosecutors told the court they are still waiting for forensic evidence relating to the murder and larceny charges.

Kelsall did not appear in court and no application for bail was made on his behalf. He remains in custody.

Police have said there were no signs of a break-in at Mr Huxley's apartment.

Court papers previously tendered to court said Mr Huxley and Kelsall, who police believe didn't know each other, lived minutes apart in Neutral Bay.

Security footage previously played in court captured the last hours of Mr Huxley's life.

He was recorded walking barefoot into a pub near his house at 1.01am on September 8 after spending the afternoon at a friend's engagement party.

He had a beer by himself and left the pub half an hour later.

About 3am, his flatmate discovered him in his bedroom with multiple stab wounds.
