Independent MP Rebekha Sharkie has resigned from parliament in the wake of a High Court ruling that disqualified Labor senator Katy Gallagher over her dual citizenship status at the 2016 election.
Ms Sharkie, who won the South Australia seat of Mayo as a candidate for the Nick Xenophon Team, intends contesting a by-election for Centre Alliance.
"I don't believe that my job here is finished," she told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.
