A motorbike rider has had a lucky escape in Scarborough in Perth overnight after becoming tangled up in power lines.

The man, who is aged in his 50s, was riding along Scarborough Beach Road when a fallen power line wrapped around the back wheel of his motorbike, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

The bike skidded off the road and crashed into a bollard.

Incredibly, the rider wasn't injured.

The man was riding in front of his son at the time and told police he didn’t see the power line strewn across the road.

It’s understood the power lines weren’t live and neighbours had previously complained of having no electricity.

Western Power employees have spent the night assessing the scene and clearing the hazard.
