The state where it costs the most to learn to drive
The cost of getting your full licence across each state and territory has been revealed in new research.
And while costs around the country are increasing, there is still a shockingly large gap - 780 per cent - between the cheapest and most expensive, according to EzLicence.

8. Northern Territory - $148
Aspiring drivers in the NT have several advantages.
The Territory's learners benefit from the DriveSafe initiative, which costs $110 for them receive education and training from qualified driving instructors, along with over $600 in subsidies towards obtaining a driver's licence.
7. Victoria - $569
In Victoria, the gap from obtaining a P1 licence to a full licence is just $30.
The state waives the the learner permit fee, probationary licence and first attempts at the learner Permit and hazard perception test.
If you meet the right criteria, you can also pick a three-year full licence option for free.
But lesson costs drive it above the NT.
6. Tasmania - $663
EzLicence found that outside the NT, Tasmania had the cheapest driving lessons at an average of $69.44 an hour, below the national average of $80.
5. Western Australia - $788
Despite being the most expensive state to get your L licence with a cost of $165 associated, Western Australia then drops back in the expense rankings.
4. Australian Capital Territory - $853
At an estimated cost of $853, the ACT is the fourth-most expensive jurisdiction for accreditation.
As in NSW and Queensland, professional driving lessons help fill up logbooks quicker under a three to one scheme.
3. New South Wales - $915
NSW drivers have to pay the most for their actual P1 permit to be printed - $69.
2. Queensland - $925
Queensland, meanwhile, is home to the most expensive full licence, with a fee of $88.55.
1. South Australia - $1302
There are several factors that put South Australia at the top of the list, EzLicence found.
The state has the highest average price for driving licence at $109, and the most expensive P2 licence, at $109 again.
Also, the P1 test costs $258 to take - more than double what any other state charges.
