Severe storms hit Southeast Queensland again

Severe thunderstorms have pummeled Southeast Queensland for the second day in a row.

Severe thunderstorms continue to affect areas around Gympie, Ipswich and Maryborough, while a more general warning is in place for the Southeast Coast and parts of Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt regions.

Earlier, hail 3cm in diameter was recorded at Summerholme and stones up to 2cm in diameter fell in Harrisville.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:

* Move your car under cover or away from trees. 
* Secure loose outdoor items. 
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. 
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. 
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
