MOD: Types of Islamic head coverings

COMMON TYPES OF ISLAMIC HEAD COVERINGS:

BURQA:

A typically blue shroud worn mainly by women in Afghanistan covering the entire body, with a mesh over the eyes for sight.

NIQAB:

A full-body veil that covers the whole face but with a slit that shows a wearer's eyes.

HIJAB:

The most commonly-worn type of veil which covers the hair, neck and chest but with the entire face visible.
