Police are looking to residents of the New South Wales border town of Moama to help them catch a killer.

Early yesterday morning, Jolene Joyce and her partner, Jamie Edwards, both 36, were shot dead inside their car on Old Deniliquin Road.

Bullet casings were found at the scene but the shooter took the weapon with them and escaped down a bush track.

Both Ms Joyce and Mr Edwards have a history of drug use and police believe their deaths may have arisen from a drug deal gone wrong.

Ms Joyce leaves behind four heartbroken children who have turned to social media to pay tribute their mum.

Detectives are yet to make an arrest over the killings but believe someone in Moama knows what happened.
