A photograph of a mystery man shown kissing a teenage girl who disappeared seven years ago in Sydney could hold a vital clue to her whereabouts.

The last images of Katrina Bohnenkamp alive were taken during a police raid at her father's boarding house in Strathfield on October 25, 2012.

The teenager disappeared in the early hours of the following day and hasn't been seen since.

An inquest into her disappearance heard Katrina was troubled and had repeatedly fled from state-funded housing, coming into contact with sex offenders and drug users.

Counsel assisting the inquest Philip Strickland, SC, described Katrina as an "intelligent teenager who evoked feelings of love and tenderness… but one who got into trouble way beyond what 15-year-old girl's experience."

The Coroner released the photograph of Katrina Bohnenhamp kissing a man which she uploaded to her Facebook profile just months before she disappeared in the hopes it could lead to her whereabouts. 9News

The Coroner released the photograph of her kissing a man which she uploaded to her Facebook profile just months before she disappeared in the hopes it could lead to her whereabouts.

The inquest was told that man has never been identified and the Coroner is urging anyone who recognises him to come forward.

Police last week announced a $500,000 reward for information on Katrina's disappearance.
