Missing man's body found a day after Coraki bridge jump

A police search lead to the discovery of the 22-year-old's body. (9NEWS) 

The body of a young man who went missing after he jumped off a bridge into a river in Coraki, northern NSW, has been found.

The 22-year-old's family told police he jumped into the Richmond River from Coraki’s Adam Street Bridge about 5.40am yesterday and had not been seen since.

Police found the man’s body in the river near the same bridge just before 9am today.

Richmond Valley mayor Robert Mustow expressed his condolences tothe local man’s family and friends, saying "everyone is pretty close knit", The Northern Star reported.

The small town of Coraki lies where the Richmond and Wilson Rivers meet, just south of Lismore.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
