Minor driving offence leads to uncovering $10,000 worth of the drug ice

Police in Sydney's West managed to uncover an estimated $10,000 worth of the drug ice after pulling over a car for a minor traffic offence during a police operation last weekend.

The man's arrest was caught on camera, after A Current Affair was given special access to Operation Enough; a tough no-regrets operation carried out by police each year.

Officers searched the man's car, finding a fake gun, a number of knives, screwdrivers, some gloves, a balaclava and walkie talkies.

The man denied being involved in any armed hold-ups, instead claiming the items belonged to his mother who was doing a clean-up.

He was taken to St Mary's police station and later charged.

A search of the man's house uncovered about $10,000 worth of methamphetamine as well as other drugs.

"Potentially this guy was going to commit a number of serious offences," Chief Inspector Mick Connolly told A Current Affair.

Operation Enough was conducted over two nights, on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November, targeting alcohol and drug related crime and anti-social behaviour.

This year police arrested 20 people during the operation with over 40 charges laid.

Police also targeted illegally modified cars and found over 90 vehicles to have defects.

"If people are going to play up we are going to stop them… I think everyone deserves to have a safe and well Christmas," Chief Inspector Connolly said.
