Mining spends $10m on political parties

Mining and resources companies and industry bodies tipped in $10.4 million to major political parties over the past year.

The bulk of the money - an amount of $9.6 million - went from Clive Palmer's firms Queensland Nickel and Mineralogy to the Palmer United Party.

However, the Liberal-Nationals coalition received $361,000 from eight companies and Labor was given $418,500 from 16 firms and mining industry bodies.

Woodside Energy was the biggest mining contributor to the major parties, giving $112,600 to Labor and $127,000 to the Liberals.
