Body found after Sydney Harbour swim

The body of a man who went missing while swimming in Sydney Harbour has been found.

Police were initially alerted after being called to Obelisk Beach in Middle Head just after 5pm yesterday.

A group of people had been swimming out to a yacht anchored off the beach, when a man disappeared underwater.

He did not resurface.

An underwater search followed, with the body of a 38-year-old man recovered at about 8.20pm.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
