Michelle Obama: The First Lady of A-dork-able Behaviour
Michelle Obama has won the title of the world's dorkiest famous mum today.
The First Lady – and mother of two teenage girls – chose a typically mum way to respond to a provocative question on the social video website Vine.
Mrs Obama, whose pursuit of improving the health of Americans has been widely received since her husband was elected president, was asked how many calories she burned "every time you 'turn up'".
The phrase "turn up" is a contemporary term meaning to "getting loose, being wild and potentially engaging in sexual activity with members of the opposite sex", made more popular recently by rapper Lil Jon's hit song 'Turn Down For What'.
Mrs Obama, a personal friend to music stars including Beyoncé and a perennial consumer of pop culture, chose to make a healthy remix of the song for her response.
"Turnip ... for what?" the 50-year-old says into the camera before shutting her eyes and bopping her head to hip hop track.
Critics are calling her performance inspiring, viral, perhaps cringe worthy, but successfully attention-grabbing either way.
There's no word yet on the thoughts of her daughters, Malia, 16, and Sasha, 13.
Though it's unlikely they will be too shocked, given their mum's penchant for unashamed dorky behaviour in the past.
Meanwhile, Lil Jon's song has been used for another political campaign recently, with the rapper teaming up with celebrities including Lena Dunham, who poses as "Lil Lena" in a 'Turn Out For What' remix encouraging people to vote.
