The NSW State Parole Authority has granted parole to Michael Wallace, 68 after a hearing found he had been of good behaviour behind bars and had no issues during eight supervised day releases.
Wallace shot his girlfriend Zoe Zou in the back of the head in 2003, dumping her body in bushland near Lithgow, on the western side of the Blue Mountains.
He then left her baby daughter outside Manly Hospital.
Wallace worked in corrective services before joining the Australian Federal Police in the 1980s.
He then became a crook himself, jailed for 12 years for stealing millions of dollars worth heroin, which had been seized by police.
