Man missing from NSW Hunter Region after leaving hospital

Police are appealing for public help to locate a man missing from the NSW Hunter Region.

Michael McGarity was seen leaving Maitland Hospital, Maitland about 1.30am yesterday.

The 61-year-old was last seen heading towards the suburb of Telarah and his family are concerned due to his medical condition.

Local police have conducted an extensive land search around Telarah and Maitland with the assistance of Polair, the dog unit and Police Rescue.

Mr McGarity is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 190cm tall with a thin build, black hair and brown eyes. He has the letters “TY” tattooed on his lower left arm.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and white T-shirt with grey jeans and navy shoes.

He is known to frequent the Newcastle and North Rothbury areas.
