Police hunting runaway gunman after McDonald’s carpark shooting

Police are appealing for information to find a gunman who remains on the run after firing shots into a vehicle at a McDonald's carpark overnight.

Two men aged 30 and 33 were sitting in a ute at the fast food restaurant in Woodville Road, Merrylands, when they were approached by a man wearing a black hooded jumper at 12.35am.

The shooter, who was not known to the pair, then fired into the vehicle and hit both men before running away.

NSW Police confirmed that the man was last seen fleeing through Granville Park. 

After the shooting the victims drove out of the McDonald’s carpark and stopped at a nearby petrol station where emergency services were called.

The pair had suffered gunshot wounds to their legs and were taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Authorities established two crime scenes after the incident – one at the McDonald’s and the other at the petrol station – as investigations continue.

Police have also issued a call for public assistance in attempting to locate the man.
