Man charged over 'ferocious' stabbing murder of Sydney woman four months on
A man has been charged with the "ferocious stabbing murder" of Sydney woman Erin Gilbert after a nearly four-month investigation into her death.
Gilbert, 42, was found dead inside her unit block in Merrylands in April after she was allegedly "attacked, assaulted and ferociously stabbed to death".
Her husband Nic found her bleeding in the apartment and she died at the scene.

Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said she sustained "catastrophic injuries".
Morten Jensen, 32, has been charged with murder.
9News revealed on Monday that Jensen was a friend of Mr Gilbert and police today confirmed he was known to Ms Gilbert, who was also known as Erin Mullavey.
Jensen was remanded in custody to face Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
Police will allege there was a conflict between Ms Gilbert, Mr Gilbert and Jensen on Sunday which increased during the day.

Doherty said police allege Jensen wore a grey hooded jumper with a distinctive black logo and a black cap on the way to the Gilbert's Merrylands home in an attempt to "disguise himself".
He alleged when Jensen attended the home where Ms Gilbert was alone, the 32-year-old violently attacked her with a "bladed instrument".
He also alleged Jensen took a dark jumper from the home and put that over the top of his grey hooded jumper.
Jensen then allegedly discarded the clothing he was wearing including the dark jumper, the grey hooded jumper with the logo and possibly the weapon.

Police also allege he obtained a black, white and red mountain bike when leaving the Merrylands home and rode it to a nearby address.
"We will allege this man is the sole person responsible for the murder," Doherty said.
Doherty said officers have been in contact with Ms Gilbert's family who have mixed emotions.
"She had a life ahead of her still and she was taken away tragically," he added.

Police are also appealing for information about the mountain bike, the discarded items of clothing and weapon involved.
"Police will allege we have a strong brief of evidence. It is a circumstantial brief in some regard, there is direct evidence and strong forensic evidence," he said.
