Two bodies pulled from water after father, sons crash into NSW river

Two bodies have been pulled from a river north-west of Sydney after a car carrying three men crashed into the water overnight.

At about 11.50pm, emergency services were called to the Macdonald River at St Albans, about 20km north of Wisemans Ferry.

They were told a car had crashed into the river before one man, a passenger, managed to escape and reach the riverbank.

The man, aged in his 20s, was assessed by paramedics but did not require any further treatment.

Police were told two other men - one in his 20s and another in his 50s - were in the car at the time.

Police divers, the SES and firefighters began a search for them, which had to be paused for a time due to dangerous conditions.

The divers located two bodies in the water about 11.20am today.

They are yet to be formally identified.

Inspector Claudette Gebrael said initial inquiries suggested the car had hit a tree before crashing into the river.

She confirmed the three men were a father and his two sons.
