Men in court for running down RBT officer

Two brothers have appeared in a Queensland court charged with attempted murder after they allegedly ran down a police officer at a roadside random breath test.

Darcey Anthony Hamley, 23, and Jeremy Andrew Hamley, 20, were remanded in custody in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police allege they refused to stop their car for officers at Ipswich, west of Brisbane, before dawn on Sunday.

Instead, their vehicle allegedly accelerated into an officer, throwing him a short distance and leaving him with serious leg and arm injuries.

The car sped off and was found abandoned nearby shortly afterwards.

The brothers have been charged with attempted murder, dangerous operation of a vehicle and attempting to pervert justice.

Their case will return to court on April 23.
