Six months after it was listed for sale, Melissa Caddick's apartment has been sold

Six months after it was first listed for sale, the final piece of vanished fraudster Melissa Caddick's estate has been sold off.

The penthouse apartment in Sydney's eastern suburbs sold for a discounted price this morning, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, going for closer to $4 million.

The private settlement comes after the apartment was pulled from auction at the last minute in October, with the sale coming short of her estate's managers' initial $5 million expectation for the three-bedroom pad.

The exact sale price for the luxury apartment was not confirmed by the court-appointed receivers of the Caddick estate, but Jones Partners confirmed that the sale was finalised this morning.

The Edgecliff apartment was one of the properties Caddick bought with her ill-gotten funds.

Caddick told her victims she would invest their cash, but instead created false CommSec trading accounts and faked trading documents showing profits.

She preyed mostly on her friends and family between 2013 and 2020, taking $23 million through a fraudulent scheme.

After the coroner's inquest, her assets were liquidated to compensate the victims of her elaborate scheme.

Caddick's parents agreed to leave the Sydney apartment after a long legal battle.

The parents, Barb and Ted Grimley, each received $950,000 to vacate the Edgecliff property after being persuaded by their daughter to pay $1 for a third of ownership.

Caddick's victims received a share of $3 million after receivers sold her Dover Heights property and shares, almost three years after she vanished.
