Melbourne shivers through coldest August morning in five years
Melburnians have woken to the city's coldest August morning in five years, with the CBD recording a top of just 1.7 degrees at 7.40am.
It has also been the coldest morning in Melbourne since July 2022, the Bureau of Meterology's Ilana Cherny has told 9news.com.au.
Cherny said a low of three or four degrees was more typical for a cold August morning.

The average low felt in Melbourne this month has been 3.4 degrees, which was also the minimum temperature recorded yesterday and on Monday.
Many Melburnians have woken to their cars covered in a layer of ice, with the temperatures dipping even lower in the suburbs.
It was 0 degrees in Bentleigh in Melbourne's south-east at 6.20am, but Weatherzone data advised the temperature only "felt like" -1.9 degrees.
In regional Victoria, Bendigo reached a low of -3.9 degrees at 7.18am, while Ballarat experienced -3.8 degrees at 6.12am, according to Bureau of Meteorology data.
The weather is set to warm up throughout the day though.
Melbourne is forecast to be sunny and hit a top of 16 degrees this afternoon.
