Melbourne schoolboy accused of sexual assault in Israel cleared by police

A Melbourne schoolboy who was investigated over an alleged sexual assault while on a school trip to Israel has been cleared by police and will face no charges.

The year 10 student from Hawthorn's Bialik College was in the country as part of an annual six-week school trip to China and Israel. His accuser was an Australian girl from another school who had also been on the trip.

Bialik College principal Jeremy Stowe-Linder, who had travelled to Israel when the incident occurred, wrote to parents on Thursday to inform of the development. He also promised to review the trip.

"While we have particular concern for the students directly involved, on our return to Melbourne, the College will be offering further support to any student or family who feels that they are in need," Mr Stowe-Linder wrote.

"We will, as with any event or experience, undertake a full review of all elements of the program."
