Students at a Melbourne school have been captured punching and kicking each other during a morning break.

The wild brawl was filmed and shared on social media app Snapchat, and shows dozens of students from Staughton College in Melton South attacking each other in the melee.

It is understood the fight broke out between two girls and involved up to 80 students.

Parents were reportedly sent a text message by the school principal telling them there had been an “altercation”.

“There was an altercation involving five students at school today,” the message from David Lord read.

“I was to emphasise that there is no place for incidents like this at our school.

“It is disappointing to see and certainly does not reflect the behaviour of the overwhelming majority of our students.”

The students involved will receive “appropriate disciplinary action,” the message said.
