Melbourne ram-raider caught on camera coming away empty-handed

A would-be thief has been caught on camera following an early morning ram-raid attack on a Mount Waverley shopping centre.

At 2am today a man driving a hatchback pulled up outside a $2 shop in Pinewood Shopping Centre before reversing into the front window four times.

The man ran inside the shop – only to run out empty handed just 90 seconds later.

The entire incident was captured by CCTV cameras outside the cafe next door.

Today the council announced bollards would be installed outside the shopping centre.
