Ram raid hits Melbourne stores for cigarettes, cash, and chocolate

Two stores in Melbourne's south-east have been ransacked by thieves who made off with cigarettes, cash and chocolate.

This is the fourth time one of the business has been targeted.

CCTV footage shows a motorist pulling up at an Oakleigh South petrol station with no intention of fuelling up.

Instead three men in balaclavas ram a white ute into the Coora Road AMPOL before filling up with stolen goods.

Imran Mamni, the petrol station's owner said: "I just got home and my brother woke me up and, you know, there's been a bit of a robbery.

"They broke the glass and then they took the cigarettes and cash, and then on the way back they took a box of chocolates and some drinks."

A neighbour across the road heard the store's security alarm go off around 4.30am and called police.

Now Mamni, a young father, has been forced to fork out thousands of dollars to repair the damage.

"Everything's getting expensive" he said.

"It's getting very hard with everything, and plus on top of that, these expenses."

Investigators say before robbing the service station the same offenders targeted a Huntingdale tobacco and gift shop 2 kilometres away, stealing cigarettes and driving off in the white ute.

It is the fourth time in three years the family business has been targeted.

The owner is now considering installing heavy duty roller shutters to bolster security.

"It doesn't feel good because, you know, you want to work hard, you want to earn the money the right way," Mamni said.

No arrests have been made as police continue to investigate.
