Police hunting carjackers in Melbourne’s east

Police are investigating the carjacking of a 53-year-old woman in Melbourne’s east last week.

Detectives from the Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit say the victim, a Bundoora woman, had parked her vehicle on Scholar Drive last Thursday at 8pm.

After getting out of her car - a 2015 Audi A4, registered V INK - on her way to the gym, the victim was approached by two masked offenders.

The victim told Melbourne radio station 3aw that the men approach her "saying we won't hurt you if you give the keys."

"So they repeated it twice and then one guy puts his hand to the pocket. I thought like, woah, something else might come up."

"This society is not safe anymore and this can happen to anybody," she said.

"I mean particularly this gym, I could be the target on the day but this could have happened to anyone."

The victim said the men approached saying

One of the offenders threatened the victim and demanded that she hand over her car keys before getting into the woman’s car and driving off.

A second vehicle, a late model Blue Range Rover Sport, with no registration plates, was seen driving off behind the victim’s car.

Detectives have released a computer-generated image of one of the offenders and are appealing to anyone who witnessed or has any information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
