Motorcyclist dies after crash with truck in Melbourne's east

A man has died after his motorcycle collided with a truck in Melbourne's east this morning.

Police believe the motorcyclist was riding north on Springvale Road when he crashed into a truck turning right into Junction Road in Nunawading about 7.20am.

The man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man, was not injured and stopped at the scene.

Heavy traffic was banking up in the area this morning after police closed all northbound lanes of Springvale Road up to the Eastern Freeway in Nunwading.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
